The peony and rose season is here, and this vase is the first cut.

Duchess Nemoirs is the first peony to open but Sarah Bernhardt will be a close second.  Gertrude Jekyll and Louise Odier roses have been in bloom for a week; the storm on Saturday night knocked down several blooms.  Chandos beauty, a dusky pink climber (whose name escapes me), the first Beaujolais sweet peas and a few euphorbia complete the pickings.

The vase is positioned on the mantlepiece in the living room – keeping my reflection out of the picture resulted in some interesting angles.
